Ali Norton was
born and raised in Vermont. She
graduated with a Bachelor of Fine
Arts in Graphic Design and applied
the fine arts to her professional
graphic design career before being
drawn to the Caribbean coast of
Central America.
Her professional experience stateside
included three years working as
senior designer for Harp and Company,
an internationally recognized studio
whose clients included Lincoln Center
and the Smithsonian National Zoo.
Ali also enjoyed several years working
with the Hopkins Performing Arts
Center for performances ranging
from jazz to modern dance using
a variety of unique illustration
styles.
In Costa Rica, immersed in the
rich Caribbean culture, Ali developed
as a painter creating portraits,
historical work, and landscapes,
all reflecting the color and energy
rhythms of the tropics. After Costa
Rica Ali moved up to the intimate
Virgin Island of St. John where
she resides year round painting
and selling her work through several
local galleries.
Experiences through travel and
fine arts are all elements that
have combined to bring diversity
to Ali's works. Initially drawn
to painting the people of the rich
Caribbean culture, Ali's current
work concentrates on landscapes
where she adds a unique sense of
color and life to all subject matter.
Born and raised in Vermont, Ali
has always drawn inspiration from
nature.
