Lisa
Crumrine was one of the 3 founding
artists of Syzygy Art.
Self-taught,
Lisa Crumrine began working
with glass 1995 and in 1996,
with two other artists, founded
the Syzygy gallery in a tiny
room off the deck of the Red
Beard Bar & Grill,
now the reknowned Skinny Legs, the St.
John burger destination for
visitors and front room for
the pirates of Coral Bay. Lisa
created, exhibited
and sold her work to locals
and visitors on St John until
June 2007 when she moved on
up to Woodstock, NY.
Lisa still
surrounds herself with colored
and textured stained glass,
seashells, stones, ceramic tiles,
and broken china in her NY studio,
and her work is still featured
at the Coral Bay Gallery.
By
hand-cutting and patiently
arranging the pieces glass
and tile she forms colorful
designs , geometric patterns
and whimsical abstracts that
delight the eye. Inspired
daily by her beautiful tropical
surroundings, she incorporates
that same light and life into
her works of art. " I
am continually amazed and
in awe of the whole creative
process" she says," I
am so grateful to have found
my artistic medium and the
fulfillment it gives me is
immeasurable"
Each
of her pieces is custom, commissions
are common, and many of her
buyers return over and over
again to collect new pieces.
If you cannot get to Coral Bay
or Woodstock her work
can be purchased online.
