Farrington grew up
in the British Virgin Islands
on Tortola where his family
continues to reside.
Robbie has been making island
art "forever". As a
child he and his friends would
take the native Calabash to the
beach where they would scoop out
the pulp, carve and then sell
them to the visitors of his small
Caribbean island home.
Calabash carvings, shell and
plant pod mobiles - Robbie's art
is truly Island Art. Each design
is unique and dictated by his
choice of materials. He scours
local beaches for findings and
driftwood brought in with the
surf, and then searches out the
native pods and fruits he has
known since childhood. Colorful
shell tidbits and other island
findings, sometimes manmade, brighten
and lighten the earthy mobiles.
